Your Dentist Knows Best

Don’t rush when you brush!

For healthy teeth and gums, follow the 2/2 rule. Brush for 2 minutes, twice a day with a soft-bristled brush. You can always brush more often, but a minimum of two times a day is recommended.

Visit your dentist once every 6 months.

Regular dental checkups are an essential part of maintaining a healthy smile. Invest in yourself by making an appointment once every 6 months.

Don’t Forget to Floss!

Get the maximum benefit out of your oral health routine by flossing every day. Flossing helps prevent gum disease and tooth decay.

Frequently Asked Questions

Still have questions? Our knowledgeable staff are ready to provide answers to your questions. Contact us today!

What should I bring to my dental appointment?

We ask our patients to bring their dental insurance information, identification, and completed forms or health history questionnaires. It’s helpful to provide a list of medications you’re currently taking and bring any previous dental records or X-rays as well as a form of payment to cover any costs not covered by insurance.

What can I expect during a routine dental checkup?

During a routine dental checkup, the dentist will examine your teeth, gums, and mouth, perform a thorough cleaning, and may take X-rays if needed. They will also check for signs of gum disease and conduct an oral cancer screening. The dentist will discuss any treatment recommendations and provide guidance on oral hygiene and preventive care.

How often should I replace my toothbrush?

To maintain optimal oral hygiene, it is generally recommended to replace your toothbrush every three to four months, or sooner if the bristles become frayed or worn. Regularly replacing your toothbrush helps ensure effective cleaning and prevents the buildup of bacteria on the brush.

Is it really important to floss? How often should I floss?

Flossing is important for maintaining good oral health. It helps remove plaque and debris from between teeth and along the gumline. It is recommended to floss at least once a day to prevent gum disease, cavities, and bad breath.

How often should I visit my dentist?

Regular biannual visits help maintain good oral health, detect any dental issues early on, and receive professional cleanings. However, the frequency may vary. Some individuals with specific dental conditions or higher risk factors may require more frequent visits for optimal care.

What are the signs and symptoms of a serious dental issue?

Severe toothache, persistent or uncontrolled bleeding from the mouth, sudden swelling or pain in the face or jaw, loose teeth, a broken or cracked tooth, a dental abscess (pus-filled swelling), and trauma or injury to the mouth are all signs of serious dental issues. If you experience any of these symptoms, it is important to seek prompt dental care to address the underlying issue and prevent further complications.

How long does a typical dental appointment last?

For a routine dental check-up and cleaning, you can generally expect the appointment to last around 45 minutes to 1 hour. This includes time for the dentist to examine your oral health, perform a dental cleaning, take X-rays if necessary, and discuss any concerns or recommendations.

How do I handle dental emergencies outside of regular office hours?

We understand that dental emergencies can happen outside of regular office hours and have protocols in place to handle such situations.
